On Wednesday 27th November 2019 Leadership & Performance Partners worked with the Maintenance Crew from Ulan Surface Operations (Glencore) to develop their Safety Crew Charter.
Leadership & Performance Partners have been working with the crews from Ulan Surface Operations in 2019 to develop their Crew Safety Charters as well as providing training in relation to team performance.
The workshops have addressed the following areas of team performance and leadership:
• The Characteristics of High Performing Teams
• Team Decision Making
• Understanding Team Dynamics
• Undertaking a SWOT analysis of the Crew to identify strengths, areas for development, opportunities and training / development strategies.
• Identifying and gaining commitment from Crew members of above and below the line behaviours. (i.e. how we expect to be treated and treat others within the team. What is acceptable and not acceptable as members of the crew)
• Development of a Safety Crew Charter
• Understanding the importance of Situational Awareness in the mining environment.
The Safety Crew Charter
This process involved the team brainstorming the following concepts:
• Why is safety important to us as a crew?
• Development of the Crew’s Safety Statement
• Identifying behaviours and activities that can be carried out to ensure our safety and the safety of others
• Targets and measurements to maintain focus and monitor results.
The Crew Charter is a team commitment that forms the focus of each Shift briefing and the actions and behaviours of the crew members during their shift.
Thanks to the Maintenance Crew for being involved, sharing their knowledge and experiences.
