EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE WORKSHOP ASSISTING NSW PUBLIC WORKS ADVISORY PERSONNEL TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT SERVICE

Leadership & Performance Partners delivered an Emotional Intelligence workshop to Project Managers at NSW Public Works (Newcastle) during March. The NSW Public Works Advisory provide exceptional service to the state by managing major projects, working with external clients and stakeholders, particularly post the recent bushfires.

The Emotional Intelligence workshop was contextualised to the needs and outcomes of the participants and their business outcomes.

Some of the key concepts of the training focused on the following:
• What is Emotional Intelligence?
• Key Concepts of EI?
• How our emotions effect our behaviour
• Communication strategies
• Identifying your “Hot Triggers”
• Undertaking the LSI1 Tool (Self Awareness)
• DISC Activity
• Strategies to deal with conflict and difficult clients
• Self-Development Action Plan

The workshop involved interactive group activities that allowed participants to better understand their strengths, weaknesses and how to control emotions and behaviour. Participants were provided with a participant guide that included activities that were completed during the workshop and contained articles and activities that participants could complete in a self-paced mode post program.

The workshop used realistic scenarios to allow participants to understand how to effectively communicate with stakeholders, deal with conflict and negotiate better project outcomes.
